Responsibilities

MAIN PURPOSE

Acting as Quality champion, supporting or leading quality improvement initiatives; responsible for ensuring that all managers, process owners and supervisors develop and maintain their part of the total quality management system.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Devising and establishing the company's quality procedures, standards and specifications
  • Developing, recommending, and implementing methods, procedures and systems to achieve quality goals by creating plans and requirements, monitoring adherence to plan and ensuring the production of quality products
  • Direct Technical Services team for regulatory/product compliance through the commercialization process
  • Champion continuous improvement throughout the organization
  • Making sure that manufacturing or production processes meet GFSI Global Food Safety Initiative Standards.
  • Monitoring and advising on the performance of the total quality management system, producing data and reporting on performance through KPI's.
  • Partnering with other business departments to ensure the procurement of materials that meet our specifications.
  • Recruiting, hiring, training staff, evaluating employee performance, and recommending or initiating promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action
  • Ensuring the execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers' specifications.
  • Managing corporate quality systems including TraceGains and other quality platforms.
  • Reviewing statistical studies, technological advances, or regulatory standards and trends to stay abreast of issues in the field of quality assurance.
  • Drive continuous improvement teams to reduce waste.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or other related degree.
  • Six Sigma training & certification with yellow belt or green belt required.
  • Minimum ten (10) years' experience with Quality responsibilities
  • Minimum five (5) years of previous Quality management/supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Direct experience with SQF or similar food industry production audits.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Food Safety (HACCP principals, GMPs, SOPs and SSOPs, Pest Control and Allergen Control programs).
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing procedures including chemical, microbiology, and basic instrument testing, as well as sensory analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of statistical process control, quality assurance techniques and tools and quality management principles in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct, coach, and train associates as well as plan, monitor and schedule work.
  • Lead ‘best in class’ behaviors with focus on food safety, quality assurance, and operations.
